I Want To Be There When You Get What’s Coming To You

“I want to be there when you get what’s coming to you.” PJ the satyr gaffawed as the half-fae May held Alley the Hellcat aloft by the scruff of its neck. It narrowed it eyes at her but obediently coughed up a pixie. The poor creature, weighed down with phlegm, darted away.

PJ bent over double laughing. “You asked for it.”

The cat took a swipe at the fae then sauntered over to rub against the satyr’s furry leg. May stalked off. “Come back and get it,” PJ called after her.

“It’s your buddy,” May said before disappearing into the mechanical shop they called home.

“We’re not buddies,” PJ shouted as he tried to shake the cat loose.

Not an hour later, PJ followed May down the bluff, muttering. “Why do I need to go?”

“You said you wanted to be there.”

“Be where?”

A fat alligator lay at the river’s edge sunning itself. May got up in its face and hissed, “Spit it out.”

The alligator cracked an eye then closed it with a self-satisfied smile. May popped it on the nose. It grimaced then hocked up a sopping wet Hellcat.

PJ burst into laughter at the sullen cat. The alligator gave May the side-eye before slithering into the water. The Hellcat’s phlegm covered fur stood out spikes as it glared at the fae, then it sauntered over to rub against the satyr’s furry leg.

“Ewe! Get it off me.” PJ howled as May stalked back up the bluff.
